Styling and Damage

So, for the past 7 months I have been UBER lazy when it comes to my hair. I have taken a minimalistic approach to my hair. My routine consisted of:

  • Part hair into small sections
  • Shampoo
  • Style
Notice anything missing? I stopped conditioning and barely deep treated my hair and now I am paying the heavy heavy price.

Lately my hair has been a pain to style, and recently, I have been dealing with TONS of single strand knots, my hair just wraps around itself the moment I twist it, and it is so dry. Also, I had to cut out lots of hair the other day due to knots that just would not go away!

I lost so much hair that I am SURE I lost my bra strap length.Well I have gotten off my lazy behind and decided to nurse my hair back to health. I found an article on Wikihow on dealing with dry scalp. I also want to try tea rinses to see if they work.

I also have been working on different styles. I am STILL trying to learn how to braid and flat twist ( yes I can only twist) here's what I did to my hair:

I first got inspiration from this picture I found on Pinterest:

But did this style first:

Random curl at the bottom due to my lack of parting skill.

(Found my first grey hair so I was not a happy camper)

This lasted a week and I wanted to try the style in the pic so I did my lazy routine and begged my friend Ren to do the side twists. I used Eco Styler Oilve Oil Gel and Aloe Vera juice for this style.

I started in the front

And pinned up the sides so I didn't twist those accidentally

Voila!

I pinned the sides together and did a pompadour in the front

I forgot to take pictures when the style was finished so I quickly snapped two while in the car. LOVE IT! But good GOD my scalp was TEARING OFF!  The darn dry scalp was terrorizing me!!

BUT I will be applying some intensive care to my hair and report back. Until then,

Peace.

Eco Styler Custard

So in my last post I mentioned mixing my beloved aloe vera gel with my eco styler argan oil gel to stretch it out. Well I stumbled upon this video by MakeupanBeautyJunkie who made an eco styler custard! so you know I jumped up out of my bed and made mines!

Now the actual mixing starts near the end of the video.

Eco Styler Custard:
1 cup EcoStyler gel
1 tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 tablespoon Coconut Oil
1 tablespoon Aloe Vera Gel

I Got out my Argan Eco Styler, Coconut Oil, Vitamin and more Argan Oil and my Aloe gel. I mixed the two oils equally to make the one tablespoon, cause I did not have Olive oil and I wanted to try out these two.

I do not have a hand mixer so I used .......my hands... and mixed all of them together. I did however add a bit more Aloe to mine

Custard!!!

I used an old honey jar.

I began twisting on freshly washed hair...... and let me tell you, I L.O.V.E this stuff. I just want to thank MakeupanBeautyJunkie for this man!!! THANK YOU!!! NO CRUNCH!!!! SHINE! SOFT, YEAH!!!!!

(please don't mind my food...and the bears)

My hair never go that dreaded crunch feel and it never got frizzy and tangled after a few days like it always got when I used plain gel.

These pics are six days later. By now, I would have to pull them out because they would have been a mess.

They shrunk but it's all good.

I'm going to see how long I can keep these twists in to really see how good the custard is.

Until then,

Peace.

So Twisted

Hello Hello!

So I recently got a package from my mom with some much needed hair products, but it looks like some unscrupulous person used out some of my Anwaar Conditioner!!!!!............ I got my Anwaar products and a sample size of Miss Jessies Baby Buttercreme (not seen a good review of this product but I will still try it) Shea Butter , Argan Oil and aloe vera gel! all of which were bought at this amazing store Earth Elements in Jamaica.

I decided to twist my hair this time and used my remaining Anwaar condish and a protein deep treatment I had (I can't remember the name)

All knotted up

I was cleaning out my closet when I found some old KeraCare products

So I decided to use this shampoo. I really could detangle my hair with this stuff, and my hair and scalp were not stripped. #approved. I had that shampoo, plus the salon size one in my closet for years and never used them.. hmmm

Putting in the deep treatment (plz look away from my skin. Swiss food and water did me dirty)

That Anwaar conditioner is the business.

After using the KeraCare shampoo, my hair was coiling up all over

Next I added my coconut oil and then started twisting with the aloe vera gel. I need this gel in my life forever now....nothing else will do. My twists never felt this soft and I did not get the dreaded crunchy feel I normally get from other gels

A lady in apartment building told me she loved my hair and asked if I would give it to her...now I hope that was just a case of lost in translation because otherwise...it would be creepy and now I must avoid her in the hallway.

I wore them for a week and pulled them out, this is second day hair since I pulled them out

Seeing that the gel container is small, I may just mix it with my Eco Styler gel and see how that works out for me.

So until then....

Peace.

Hello There

Hey, so I recently took out my braids because my hair at the scalp was becoming "hard" I guess with dirt and they were looking like a hot mess! so I  cut them out on the weekend.

yeah....

I got hair ALL OVER my apartment! forced me to actually clean it -_-

 Hey dere!

Look closely, you can see the dirt and product all caked up .

The products I used.

Okay so I washed with Anwaar Co. Black Soap Herbal Shampoo, I had to wash THREE times to fully cleanse my hair!

This stuff is pretty good, It didn't strip my hair even though I washed it three times, it never got/felt dry and stripped.

Shed hairs that came out while washing.

After that I applied my Vatika Oil and Anwaar Co. Black Seed Hair Conditioner, and I detangled with the Tangle Teezer.......I thought that I would be wowed by the Teezer, but I wasn't. It was difficult for me to use it and to detangle my hair properly, I got the hang of it soon after but my hair was not cooperating , I guess that the oil was thick and I did not use much conditioner because I applied more condish to some areas and it was easier for the Tangle Teezer to comb through, so maybe that was the problem.

My mix of Vatika Oil and Black Seed Hair Condish

The hair that came out after using the Tangle Teezer.

I had to used saran rap because I did not have and plastic bags or caps.

I had to use Suave professionals Shea Butter Conditioner to wash out the Vatika Oil becuase the Anwaar wash finishing way too fast!

Freshly washed hair, I still had to detangle my hair again after using the Tangle Teezer twice.
 Length check!

WOOOT!

 More shed hair!

I did my usual twists with Eco Styler Argan Oil Gel, and my Shea Butter Mix

Even MORE shed hair, using the Tangle Teezer again, this time it was a lot better.

The Anwaar Co. shampoo and conditioner are great products, I have to use the Teezer again to really have an opinion on it. The Suave is a good condish for Co-Washing and I didn't really like the Vatika Oil..... I will be revisiting the oil when I wash my hair again. My hair is not dry or crunchy from the gel and It has sheen to it, though you can't see it from the pictures.

Later peeps.
