Styling A Old Twist Out

Hey Curlies, So Ive had this twist out style for like two weeks now and I was getting pretty bored of it. So I decided to try something new for a change and started experimenting with different styles. after 20 minutes of figuring out what to do I ended up with this look. (The large pompadour style) it took awhile to get my hair like this but
To my surprise it came out pretty good i'm quiet pleased
What do you guys think?

we love gifs!

What I used:
1. head band
2. tons of bobby pins

Styling and Damage

So, for the past 7 months I have been UBER lazy when it comes to my hair. I have taken a minimalistic approach to my hair. My routine consisted of:

  • Part hair into small sections
  • Shampoo
  • Style
Notice anything missing? I stopped conditioning and barely deep treated my hair and now I am paying the heavy heavy price.

Lately my hair has been a pain to style, and recently, I have been dealing with TONS of single strand knots, my hair just wraps around itself the moment I twist it, and it is so dry. Also, I had to cut out lots of hair the other day due to knots that just would not go away!

I lost so much hair that I am SURE I lost my bra strap length.Well I have gotten off my lazy behind and decided to nurse my hair back to health. I found an article on Wikihow on dealing with dry scalp. I also want to try tea rinses to see if they work.

I also have been working on different styles. I am STILL trying to learn how to braid and flat twist ( yes I can only twist) here's what I did to my hair:

I first got inspiration from this picture I found on Pinterest:

But did this style first:

Random curl at the bottom due to my lack of parting skill.

(Found my first grey hair so I was not a happy camper)

This lasted a week and I wanted to try the style in the pic so I did my lazy routine and begged my friend Ren to do the side twists. I used Eco Styler Oilve Oil Gel and Aloe Vera juice for this style.

I started in the front

And pinned up the sides so I didn't twist those accidentally

Voila!

I pinned the sides together and did a pompadour in the front

I forgot to take pictures when the style was finished so I quickly snapped two while in the car. LOVE IT! But good GOD my scalp was TEARING OFF!  The darn dry scalp was terrorizing me!!

BUT I will be applying some intensive care to my hair and report back. Until then,

Peace.

Twist Out Gone Wrong

As you guys know I have been trying to perfect Naptural85's Twist Out. So I have been experimenting with different products and sizes of the twists. I saw on a hair forum ( can't remember where) a recipe for a leave-in conditioner. I read that you can use a washing out conditioner and mix some oils and a little water and use. Now being who I am I had to try this out!

So I got out my Anwaar conditioner and coconut oil and mixed them together.

Yea.............

So I added the mixture and started to twist! of course my hair felt great as it always does whenever I use  the Anwaar condish, but lawd the smell....... they needs to go back to the drawing board with this one honey! I know its all natural but man.......

Anyways! I could not wait to pull out the twists and see how it came  out!

..............now...........ammm...............................yea.....

Now. These pics do not show the disaster that was my hair......I looked and smelled terrible. I could not.........plus I had to go out so I had to think fast.

I quickly pulled my hair into a ponytail. I was surprised because I could put 97% percent of my hair into a ponytail considering the cut I gave it a month ago. When I got home I quickly washed it and proceeded to use my shea butter mix and start over.

Much Better.

Peace.

Eco Styler Custard

So in my last post I mentioned mixing my beloved aloe vera gel with my eco styler argan oil gel to stretch it out. Well I stumbled upon this video by MakeupanBeautyJunkie who made an eco styler custard! so you know I jumped up out of my bed and made mines!

Now the actual mixing starts near the end of the video.

Eco Styler Custard:
1 cup EcoStyler gel
1 tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 tablespoon Coconut Oil
1 tablespoon Aloe Vera Gel

I Got out my Argan Eco Styler, Coconut Oil, Vitamin and more Argan Oil and my Aloe gel. I mixed the two oils equally to make the one tablespoon, cause I did not have Olive oil and I wanted to try out these two.

I do not have a hand mixer so I used .......my hands... and mixed all of them together. I did however add a bit more Aloe to mine

Custard!!!

I used an old honey jar.

I began twisting on freshly washed hair...... and let me tell you, I L.O.V.E this stuff. I just want to thank MakeupanBeautyJunkie for this man!!! THANK YOU!!! NO CRUNCH!!!! SHINE! SOFT, YEAH!!!!!

(please don't mind my food...and the bears)

My hair never go that dreaded crunch feel and it never got frizzy and tangled after a few days like it always got when I used plain gel.

These pics are six days later. By now, I would have to pull them out because they would have been a mess.

They shrunk but it's all good.

I'm going to see how long I can keep these twists in to really see how good the custard is.

Until then,

Peace.

Tired......

Ok ladies, its that time again where I feel bored and annoyed with my hair. I am planning to redo my Solange braids again (well last time I got twists but I will do the braids this time) I am also planning on colouring my hair which I have wanted to do for a while now but never had the courage ( mostly I was afraid of the end result, with my luck, it might be a disaster) anywho's here are some styles I'm considering...

My hair with the Solange twists. The most annoying thing ever.... can't wait to try it again!

The colour I oh so desire!

I've been seeing this style on the internet for while now and I love it! it looks great!
If I do the Solange braids, I may do them small like this....  or that just might get too heavy for me.....

..............yeah meng..............

Every now and again I want a break from all the styling and combing and washing. I am seriously contemplating braiding again, hopefully this time I can keep them in longer than a month! ( I just pray that I can find a better stylist)

Keep y'all posted!
