COSMOTOPIA 2013

Hey peoples! I  FINALLY got internet so I can stop mooching off the neighbours!!! so I went to COSMOTOPIA about two weeks ago sans Ari, but still got some great stuff!

COSMOTOPIA is an annual beauty expo here in Jamaica. Ari and I went to our first expo in 2011 and got some great stuff.

The first booth I stopped at was of course Kumea's Hair Perspective To check out her AWESOME products! I got her Hair Smoothie and went straight home to do my hair. The first time I used the  Hair Smoothie I borrowed some from my sister to finish my twists and I ended up using the whole jar!

Hair Smoothie

Kumea and I. Leave it to me to wear the same shirt!!

Twist out using Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In and Eco Styler Custard ( reviews coming soon).

Ok so I started off with the twist out. I noticed that I had some flaking in my hair after the second day. I'm not so sure if it was the combination of the two products or what.

Can you see them?

I washed, detangled, sprayed some aloe vera juice and separated my hair into big twists.

I use Naptural85's twist out method to achieve my styles.

I am very heavy handed when it comes to product but I was surprised when I barely scratched the surface of the jar!  What you see there is how little it took to do half of my hair.

Can you say thoroughly impressed?

The finished twists

The twist-out. Hair was soft and not "heavy" with product. Usually my hair is a magnet for dust and debris after a few hours but never had that with the smoothie.

I gathered the hair into a ponytail and tied it down with my silk scarf and bonnet and went to bed.

Next day hair

It shrunk a little but I am not complaining!

Overall, I LOVE this product and will continue to use it for my twits outs. I will have to give the heavy butters a break because I do like my hair to be debris free most of the time. I will definitely have to stock up on this product! Kumea keep on doing your thing girl!

So until the next review,

Peace.

Sooooooo. Its been a looooooooooong time since I've been on the blog. My apologizes peeps. Life can get pretty hectic and the blog took a backseat for a while, but now I'm back and will be updating when I can.

SO! on to the review!

Eco Styler Clear

I used this Eco Styler for wash and go's (which did a number on my hair, but that's another post) I loved the hold it gave me but was not a fan of how my hair felt after it dried.

Product Review: Organic Root Stimulator Jojoba Oil

Ok, so I've been using this product for a week now, and I have to say... I like it.

Pros: It makes my hair soft. It was relatively inexpensive. It made my hair easy to comb through especially when I apply it to wet hair.

Cons: . The jojoba oil is way down in the ingredients list, when the label makes it seem like its the first and only ingredient. It leaves a slight  greasy feel.

Ingredients: Petrolatum, Soybean Oil Glycine Soja, Lanolin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Sodium Cetearyl Alcohol, Isopropyl Palmitate, Coconut Oil Cocos Nucifera, Jojoba Oil Simmondsia Chinensis, Castor Oil Ricinus Communis, C18-36 Acid, Cetyl Esters, Cetyl Alcohol, Cyclomethicone,

Verdict: I have never had a hair oil that ,eaves my hair so soft! WILL defo's be keeping this one!

Co Washing

I co washed for the first time last week. I have read about it a lot on numerous blogs and decided to try it, not giving it much hope, and I have to say, I don't think that I will be using shampoo for a while. I instantly fell in love with co washing. It was so easy to do! Washing my hair with shampoo and conditioner took me around 3-4 hours to do. yep that long! Now, when I co wash, it took me about 1 hour 50 mins. to do. I co washed with White Rain Freesia Spirit Conditioner, but before I did that, I moisturized my scalp with some warm olive oil and a few drops of lavender oil because my scalp was a little dry. I part my hair in four, and I Bantu Knotted the ends.

My scalp with the olive oil and lavender oil

I left it on there for about 30 mins, then I washed all I could with water (cold) first (I don't use hot water to wash my hair) I added the conditioner and washed gently.

My hair with the conditioner, can you see how much natural hair I have? Me neither...

I gently massaged my scalp, and let the conditioner run down my hair to clean it. I used to was my entire hair by bundling it on top of itself, but that just caused sooooo many knots and tangles.....
dark times....... dark times...... I rinsed that out and reapplied some more conditioner and I repeated the washing, but this time I lightly "crunched" the ends to help get the rest of the oil out. I left the conditioner in for about 40 mins and I rinsed it out.
My hair in sections, with the conditioner, see my natural hair now??

After I blow dried my hair, BIG mistake! It came out all puffy and trashy at the ends, a sign that I really need a trim! I tamed my hair with some carrot oil, coconut oil and my Bergamot oil mixed together.

I was NOT happy! see one side of my hair is longer than the other side?

It looks a bit nasty I know.

My now tamed hair

My hair looked and smelled great! and that mixture kept my hair moisturized! I think from now on I will be co washing very often!
