Twist-Out 101

Hey y'all!

I am getting better at Naptural85's twist out method!

I have started re-twisting at night ( which I have always been too lazy to do before) and I do not use gel anymore for the style. I have to twist small and do more parts because my hair is not as long as hers. I use my shea butter mix which is shea butter, jojoba oil, vitamin E oil, and coconut oil I whipped up.

My mix. I will sometimes use a little bit of coconut oil to seal my ends before or after I add the shea butter mix.

I am still trying to work on the frizz

The twists, some of them are still a bit big but I'm trying!

I am loving this style because it is easier for me to manage and maintain.

This is third day hair. I will soon be able to get that front piece into the bun!

Second day hair

The back

I will continue to practice this style and get better at it. My next style.....the tuck and roll! until then....

Peace

Vegan Journeys

Hey y'all

So I am a little disappointed on my journey. I have not lost anymore weight since I really started this change and I am getting frustrated. I eat mainly fruits and veggies and beans, I don't/rarely cook with salt (only in quinoa and pasta) and I dont eat rice, or bread anymore. I have been exercising everyday except for Sundays, for and hour, no less than thirty mins if it is really intense. I just can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong......

I love making soups and my fav so far is my pumpkin/butternut squash soup with potato. I only add coconut milk to it and use a hand mixer. I sometimes add pasta to it to keep me fuller and I add spinach to it when I have too much and it is going bad. On top I LOVE putting nutritional yeast and gomashio and I eat it with bran biscuits.

My other fav is curried chickpeas and quinoa and I sometimes have bran biscuits with it. YUM!

This is how my plate normally looks, half veggies, quarter beans and quarter grains ( Can you tell that those bran biscuits are a staple for me?)

For my dessert ( or when I feel like having something sweet) I'll have dried mango, which I have cut out now cuz I DID NOT KNOW that they had so much SUGAR! some yogurt ( that Fage stuff is soooo yummy!) One or two chocolate rice cakes and maybe some nuts. Mind you I don't eat all of those at one time! I choose which one I will have. Normally I'll have the dry fruit with yogurt, or yogurt with the rice cake.

I'm not sure if its the dairy I still have ( I eat the supermarket brand yogurt, not the Fage, its too expensive for me to keep purchasing, but I have since given up the supermarket brand yogurt realizing that it has NOTHING in it) Or it might be the dried fruit I love..... I will cut those out with the rice cakes though I dont have much of them anyways ( but anything dunked in chocolate can NEVER be good for you, right?)

I also noticed that I am ALWAYS hungry around 10pm. I try not to eat dinner or anything else after 7-7:30 pm, so I eat by 5:30 or 6:30 pm. But no matter what I eat, or how big my sizes are I still get hungry....at that same time.... and sometimes during the day when I eat throughout the day I am hungry after..... I thought it was a mental issue ( I used to snack HARD late at night) so I started having tea, but after the tea, I would be belching and STILL be hungry! (I am sooooooo frustrated now) I don't like the fact that I am always eating and exercising and nothing is working for me. It is really demotivating......

AND ANOTHER THING! (lol!) my skin has gotten REALLY BAD... I mean REALLY BAD!

This picture does not do the issue justice. my skin is BAAAAAAAD man...... and I am breaking out on my chest, neck, and upper back. I have NEVER had this happen to me before. I read somewhere that when you change your diet, your body is trying to get used to the change and may be detoxing through the skin, so I HOPE that is what is happening to me and not an allergic reaction to something.

I would LOVE to try out green smoothies, just to see if they will keep my fuller longer. I have been seeing so many people who drink green smoothies and be dropping weight without exercising! Alas,  I do not have a blender....

I need to think this vegan thing over and see what I am doing wrong......CAN SOMEBODY GET ME A BLENDER!!???

Peace

Naptural85's Twist-Out

Howdy do!

Lately I have been feeling like giving up on my hair and just locking it, for cereal! I was getting tired of the twisting sessions ( which takes 6 hours for me, I dont know WHY it takes that long!) and my hair grows in layers so it is very noticeable when I do a twist out ( I am not willing to cut it) so I wanted to try a new style.

I always admired Naptural85's styles so I tried her twist out 101 method.

I used coconut oil and Ecostyler Argan Oil gel......and this style took me 1 hour.....1HOUR....... I will NOT be doing anymore twists!!........for now. I had to do some of the twists over because they were too big and I knew that they would come out too big, but it was a good style and I was comfortable enough to go out on the street with this style. I pulled out the twists and I had to put it into a bun because the back was way too frizzy to wear it out ( I should have taken a picture). I guess I did not use enough gel... maybe next time, but I will be using shea butter instead, I have been looking for shea mixes on youtube before I will be trying this style again.

until then, Peace

Twisted Up

Hello Lovelies!

I FINALLY found a deep treatment mix for this cold weather. My hair has been feeling harsh, and dry and spraying it constantly was causing my twists to frizz and look old. I was looking for a twisting creme and bought a deep treatment instead (Lost in translation)

Beurre de Karite. (Carrot butter I think)You see how much it costs? so it HAD to be good! #studentbudget

I mixed it with Organics protein treatment.

The combo was really good, especially that Beurre de Karite! it glided onto my hair and made it so soft! even though it is a small container I did not need much. First I finger detangled with Vatika oil and coconut oil (made less hair come out than usual... need to continue doing this)

What I used. The Tangle Teezer worked out better for me this time, im starting to like now, and I don't see and damage to my ends like so many other naturals complain about.

LOOK AT THAT! I was shocked that more didn't come out.

I washed with Suave Shea Butter Conditioner, and commenced my twists

I started with finger coils but after the first one I gave up..... #ultimatelaziness

I twisted them bigger than usual this time, and I did it on damp hair instead of soaking wet, for less shrinkage. ( Reppin Jamrock! this was not planned)

After I sealed my ends with coconut oil.

It is day 5 and my hair is not dry or feels rough, though it is as bit oily (heavy handed) I think I should stock up on that Beurre....hmmm

Catch you on the flip side.
