Product Review : Curls With Care

Hey Curlies!  I promised to post this review about a New Natural hair line ''Curls with Care" and so here it is!

First of all let me give you a little background of the products in general.

"Curls With Care is a all natural hair and body care company. based in Toronto, Ontario.

All of our products are:

  • Made in Canada
  • Made with natural and certified organic ingredients
  • Vegan and Gluten-free where possible
  • Biodegradable
  • Cruelty-free
  • Petroleum, Silicone, Sulphate, Alcohol, Paraben, & SLS Free
  • Safe and non-toxic
  • Packaged in recyclable material
What more could you ask for in a all Natural product!  I was so excited to be able to meet with the creator of this Company as well as the privilege to work with her and to try out her products.

The products I got were Holy Grail Premium Conditioner, Fresh Start which is a Invigorating hair Mud wash (My Fav) , Coco Bliss , and Sealed which are both hair and body serums.
I wet my hair and used the Fresh Start Mud wash on my scalp only to desolve any build up I had. I then wrapped my hair for about 20 mins then rinsed with my regualr shampoo, and my hair and scalp came out pretty clean without feeling stripped.

I Used the Holy Grail Conditioner to detangle. Now! one thing with my hair is that it loves thick conditioners and lots of slip (silicone) to really detangle my Kinks, But this conditioner has no Silicone yet I was able to comb through my hair easily and I love the thick consistency of it ,plus it has all these natural ingredients that my hair needs like : coconut oil, olive oil, castor oil, tea tree oil and the list goes on.. so I must say it is a HOLY GrAiL Conditioner!

I then decided to flat twist my hair damp using my shea butter mixture and the CoCo Bliss serum which has coconut oil and Jojoba oil in it to seal in the moisture . and of course I love anything with Coconut oil so I loved this serum. (used some on my legs too).

flat twist with CoCo Bliss

It came out a little too fluffy for my liking but I still love the waves and definition.
so in conclusion I'll definitely use these products again and will easily become staples in my wash routine!

Help Me Jesus!

As if I did not learn already, I saw another recipe online ( I spend way too much time on the internets)  I saw another shea butter mix and needed to try it. I have been hearing a lot about shealoe and read on UrbanBushBabes the benefits of shealoe and went with their recipe.

I used my trusted aloe vera gel, shea butter, coconut oil and vitamin E oil.

I melted the shea butter and added the coconut and vitamin E oil.

I added the aloe vera gel when the mix cooled down a bit, and used my emulsifier and mixed it up.

I put it in the fridge for a while just to firm up and I forgot it. I went for it and found it rock hard......I figured it had to be the fridges fault so I set it out to get soft but it never did....... soooooo, I melted it down AGAIN......and this time forgot it on the stove!! OMG I took it off JUST in time! it looked awful (sorry no pics) and I added the rest of my aloe vera gel. I mixed it again and this time I did not put it in my fridge.

I used my aloe vera gel container because I dumped all the gel into the mixture

It does not look like the mixture on UrbanBushBabes.....AT ALL. I think because I left it on the stove too long, the mixture is a bit......separated, and not really fluffy, but I will still use it cuz I used all my gel, and I am not about to throw away ANYTHING #studentbudget

I will have to see how this turns out.....until then,

Peace.

Twist Out Gone Wrong

As you guys know I have been trying to perfect Naptural85's Twist Out. So I have been experimenting with different products and sizes of the twists. I saw on a hair forum ( can't remember where) a recipe for a leave-in conditioner. I read that you can use a washing out conditioner and mix some oils and a little water and use. Now being who I am I had to try this out!

So I got out my Anwaar conditioner and coconut oil and mixed them together.

Yea.............

So I added the mixture and started to twist! of course my hair felt great as it always does whenever I use  the Anwaar condish, but lawd the smell....... they needs to go back to the drawing board with this one honey! I know its all natural but man.......

Anyways! I could not wait to pull out the twists and see how it came  out!

..............now...........ammm...............................yea.....

Now. These pics do not show the disaster that was my hair......I looked and smelled terrible. I could not.........plus I had to go out so I had to think fast.

I quickly pulled my hair into a ponytail. I was surprised because I could put 97% percent of my hair into a ponytail considering the cut I gave it a month ago. When I got home I quickly washed it and proceeded to use my shea butter mix and start over.

Much Better.

Peace.

Twist-Out 101

Hey y'all!

I am getting better at Naptural85's twist out method!

I have started re-twisting at night ( which I have always been too lazy to do before) and I do not use gel anymore for the style. I have to twist small and do more parts because my hair is not as long as hers. I use my shea butter mix which is shea butter, jojoba oil, vitamin E oil, and coconut oil I whipped up.

My mix. I will sometimes use a little bit of coconut oil to seal my ends before or after I add the shea butter mix.

I am still trying to work on the frizz

The twists, some of them are still a bit big but I'm trying!

I am loving this style because it is easier for me to manage and maintain.

This is third day hair. I will soon be able to get that front piece into the bun!

Second day hair

The back

I will continue to practice this style and get better at it. My next style.....the tuck and roll! until then....

Peace

Mixing Shea Butter.

Bonjour peeps! So, I've always wanted to mix my own Shea Butter seeing how the lovely ladies on youtube and natural hair sites mix theirs, so I thought that I would give it a go. So I started out with:

100% Shea Butter

100% Coconut Oil ( This stuff smells GREAT!)

Vitamin E and Jojoba Oil

Olive Oil (Extra Virgin)

Ok, so I added the Shea Butter to a double boiler

And then I added the oil, now.... here's where I THINK I messed up..... I added a tablespoon of Olive Oil and a tablespoon and a half of Coconut Oil then a half teaspoon of Jojoba and Vitamin E Oil (I think, I used the same spoon but I eyeballed it so... yeah) and I let it melt down.

Now here's why I think I messed up... look back at the first pic, you see how small the jar of Shea Butter is, so I may have overdone it a bit with the other oils.

So I  started whisking cuz I do not have a hand mixer.... and IT WOULD NOT MIX....... no matter what I did, it just would not come together! so I started to panic because these oils are not that cheap where I am living and I was NOT going to throw it out so i tore up my kitchen only to find one of those   hand food blender things

Sorry about the quality... okay so I continued to mix and........IT STILL WOULD NOT COME TOGETHER! It was like trying to mix water.... so I gave up and set it in the fridge.....

1hr later:

Looks firm right?

hmmmm....

The next day (I made too much...) :

SUCCESS!!!!!!!! IT WAS FIRM!!! WOOOOOOT! So you know it's time for the happy dance right?

I will be using this on my skin because my hair is still braided up but I think its time to pull them out now....

Don't you think?

Catch you later!
