Help Me Jesus!

As if I did not learn already, I saw another recipe online ( I spend way too much time on the internets)  I saw another shea butter mix and needed to try it. I have been hearing a lot about shealoe and read on UrbanBushBabes the benefits of shealoe and went with their recipe.

I used my trusted aloe vera gel, shea butter, coconut oil and vitamin E oil.

I melted the shea butter and added the coconut and vitamin E oil.

I added the aloe vera gel when the mix cooled down a bit, and used my emulsifier and mixed it up.

I put it in the fridge for a while just to firm up and I forgot it. I went for it and found it rock hard......I figured it had to be the fridges fault so I set it out to get soft but it never did....... soooooo, I melted it down AGAIN......and this time forgot it on the stove!! OMG I took it off JUST in time! it looked awful (sorry no pics) and I added the rest of my aloe vera gel. I mixed it again and this time I did not put it in my fridge.

I used my aloe vera gel container because I dumped all the gel into the mixture

It does not look like the mixture on UrbanBushBabes.....AT ALL. I think because I left it on the stove too long, the mixture is a bit......separated, and not really fluffy, but I will still use it cuz I used all my gel, and I am not about to throw away ANYTHING #studentbudget

I will have to see how this turns out.....until then,

Peace.

Twist Out Gone Wrong

As you guys know I have been trying to perfect Naptural85's Twist Out. So I have been experimenting with different products and sizes of the twists. I saw on a hair forum ( can't remember where) a recipe for a leave-in conditioner. I read that you can use a washing out conditioner and mix some oils and a little water and use. Now being who I am I had to try this out!

So I got out my Anwaar conditioner and coconut oil and mixed them together.

Yea.............

So I added the mixture and started to twist! of course my hair felt great as it always does whenever I use  the Anwaar condish, but lawd the smell....... they needs to go back to the drawing board with this one honey! I know its all natural but man.......

Anyways! I could not wait to pull out the twists and see how it came  out!

..............now...........ammm...............................yea.....

Now. These pics do not show the disaster that was my hair......I looked and smelled terrible. I could not.........plus I had to go out so I had to think fast.

I quickly pulled my hair into a ponytail. I was surprised because I could put 97% percent of my hair into a ponytail considering the cut I gave it a month ago. When I got home I quickly washed it and proceeded to use my shea butter mix and start over.

Much Better.

Peace.

Featured: Big Chop! Newbie Natural Sista

day after big chop
Hey Every meet Renee Ffrench. A new natural sista who did the big chop and began her natural journey.

1) How long have you been natural and what make you do so? Also, how do family and friends react to your hair?
I have been natural for five months now; I decided to go natural because I wanted to change up my sense of style. At first when I had cut off my hair it was a shocker but most of my friends and family members say that I’m rocking the short hair perfectly.

2) What do you like about being natural?

I have less breakage when I bleach my hair often, it stays intact as oppose to when my hair was relaxed

3) How would you describe your hair? (Loose/tight curls, waves, 3b-3c 4a-4b, if you know, etc...)
2 months

My hair texture is 4A .

4) What products do you use to maintain your hair? (Please be specific, thank you!)

Most times I don’t use anything in my hair but when I do I rub the clear gel in, I use tropic isle living black castor oil shampoo to wash my hair on a weekly basis or at least every two weeks, I also use their hair food or their strong roots red pimento oil to moisturize and or oil my scalp.

5) What is your hair care routine? do you co-wash? (Conditioner only) how often do you co-wash? Do you blow dry or air dry? etc...

I try to comb out my hair every week but because my natural curls as so tight it doesn’t really make a difference but I do anyways to get rid off all my dead hair. But what I do almost every morning is wet my hair or rub a little gel to keep my curls neat and fuzzy free. I don’t co-wash my hair but when I do wash it I strictly air dry.

6) What are your favorite styling products?

My favorite product is the tropic isle living strong roots red pimento oil. Why?  It helps to thicken my hair especially how I bleach my hair roots regularly.

7) What is your best kept hair secret?

4 months
I really don’t have any

8) (Please finish the sentence) My natural hair is beautiful because ....?

…I’m a true natural Sista!

9) Is there anything else you would like to add?

Eco Styler Custard

So in my last post I mentioned mixing my beloved aloe vera gel with my eco styler argan oil gel to stretch it out. Well I stumbled upon this video by MakeupanBeautyJunkie who made an eco styler custard! so you know I jumped up out of my bed and made mines!

Now the actual mixing starts near the end of the video.

Eco Styler Custard:
1 cup EcoStyler gel
1 tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 tablespoon Coconut Oil
1 tablespoon Aloe Vera Gel

I Got out my Argan Eco Styler, Coconut Oil, Vitamin and more Argan Oil and my Aloe gel. I mixed the two oils equally to make the one tablespoon, cause I did not have Olive oil and I wanted to try out these two.

I do not have a hand mixer so I used .......my hands... and mixed all of them together. I did however add a bit more Aloe to mine

Custard!!!

I used an old honey jar.

I began twisting on freshly washed hair...... and let me tell you, I L.O.V.E this stuff. I just want to thank MakeupanBeautyJunkie for this man!!! THANK YOU!!! NO CRUNCH!!!! SHINE! SOFT, YEAH!!!!!

(please don't mind my food...and the bears)

My hair never go that dreaded crunch feel and it never got frizzy and tangled after a few days like it always got when I used plain gel.

These pics are six days later. By now, I would have to pull them out because they would have been a mess.

They shrunk but it's all good.

I'm going to see how long I can keep these twists in to really see how good the custard is.

Until then,

Peace.

So Twisted

Hello Hello!

So I recently got a package from my mom with some much needed hair products, but it looks like some unscrupulous person used out some of my Anwaar Conditioner!!!!!............ I got my Anwaar products and a sample size of Miss Jessies Baby Buttercreme (not seen a good review of this product but I will still try it) Shea Butter , Argan Oil and aloe vera gel! all of which were bought at this amazing store Earth Elements in Jamaica.

I decided to twist my hair this time and used my remaining Anwaar condish and a protein deep treatment I had (I can't remember the name)

All knotted up

I was cleaning out my closet when I found some old KeraCare products

So I decided to use this shampoo. I really could detangle my hair with this stuff, and my hair and scalp were not stripped. #approved. I had that shampoo, plus the salon size one in my closet for years and never used them.. hmmm

Putting in the deep treatment (plz look away from my skin. Swiss food and water did me dirty)

That Anwaar conditioner is the business.

After using the KeraCare shampoo, my hair was coiling up all over

Next I added my coconut oil and then started twisting with the aloe vera gel. I need this gel in my life forever now....nothing else will do. My twists never felt this soft and I did not get the dreaded crunchy feel I normally get from other gels

A lady in apartment building told me she loved my hair and asked if I would give it to her...now I hope that was just a case of lost in translation because otherwise...it would be creepy and now I must avoid her in the hallway.

I wore them for a week and pulled them out, this is second day hair since I pulled them out

Seeing that the gel container is small, I may just mix it with my Eco Styler gel and see how that works out for me.

So until then....

Peace.
